Picking Furniture for a Post-Production Home Studio

TRAVIS JOHNS: Hi. I'm Travis Johns with Expert Village and I'm going to talk to you about office furniture. Obviously, a very comfortable chair is going to be first step. Comfort, quality, you want to make sure that number one, as it is, video editing, graphic design, things where you're sitting in a chair for an extended period of time, you want to make sure that it's good for your back depending on your age and your state of health. The quality of the chair versus the price, a lot of chairs can run over a thousand dollars that promise you ergonomic excellence et cetera, et cetera, more than likely, more than a thousand dollars is a little too expensive for an office chair. But you want to make sure that whatever you do purchase is going to support your back as you're going to be in it for extended periods of time. As far as office furniture is concerned, desk is also very important. You want to make sure that you have adequate space, enough number of drawers that can hold all of your supplies and a lot of real estate when it comes to the top of your desk because when you get in the middle of a project you can have notes from all over and you want to make sure that you can see everything at one time. Also, don't forget when it comes to office furniture there's a lot of odds and ends that you could overlook if you were just going to an office that someone else supplied for you. In any office building they already have the cubicles, storage units, shelves, things like that that you would normally think of. Because you have to get it yourself, you want to make sure that's going to be suited to your needs. For instance, you want to make sure that you've got a stand that can elevate your external monitor to eye level, so that can be more comfortable for you. You also want to make sure that any other storage space works with the look of what you're going for as well as being functional along the way.
