TRAVIS JOHNS: Hi, I'm Travis Johns with Expert Village and I'm going to be talking to you about filing paperwork in your home video office. Obviously, with any job, if you're in an actual office building with other co-workers, there would be a lot of paperwork to file. Because you're working for yourself in your home office, it's important that you know how to do it because no one else is going to do it for you. Keeping detailed files is really important because you're going to be the one who's going to have to go through it at the end. Coming up with a system of organization that makes sense to you is also very important at the very beginning of a project. It's important that you keep that organization as similar as possible from project to project so you know where things are such as invoices, old bank statements, receipts, notes for certain projects in case you come up against having to do another one for that client down the line. When it comes to dealing with a client onsite, you're going to have to go into a meeting and have a paperwork with you, it's important to keep all of your notes as well as examples from projects with you at all times. This will also be a part of your portfolio in the event that they request that and you want to make sure you know where that is.
