Buying a Tie

Oh Hi, I'm Douglas Willott on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to talk about coordinating your shirt with your tie. Maybe you're at a point where there isn't a shirt in your closet that you want to wear, but you've got some ties you definitely want to keep. Or the reverse is true where you've got a great shirt, but you just don't have the right tie to go with it. A good trick for this for your coordination is to actually wear the item that you are going to want to coordinate that you already own to the store where you are going to be purchasing the other item. For instance, I'd wear this brown shirt in if I need to go purchase a tie to match the brown shirt. Pick up ties and compare it. Feel free to talk to the store clerk. They're going to be a person who does this for a living. They're going to have a really good idea of what can coordinate with what colors. Especially at department stores, not so much at a place like Target, but a place like Macy's or Nordstroms. It's what these people do for a living. They're very on it and they know their stuff. Remember, at the end of the day you're the one that has to wear the shirt and tie. If it's something that all the rules say is a good combination, but just doesn't do anything for you. Don't wear it. If it's something that you just really like the way it looks even though it may not play by all the rules, that's fine too. It gives you that little element of danger sometimes. Independence, that's all you need to look confident.
