Secrets of Ballroom Dancing: Part 4

This is Emily Johnson on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will be talking about our fourth secret to ballroom dance. It is called the triple step. The triple step is made up of three short choppy steps in either direction, making sure only to do three steps, I will show you what I mean. If I start to my left, with my left foot, I am going to do three short choppy steps, one, two, three, leaving this foot in place because it is the next foot to go the opposite direction, which is one, two, three, so the triple step three short choppy steps, one, two, three and one, two, three. The triple step can be done in any direction as I said, it can also be done forward as in one, two, three or one, two, three, so the side triple step one, two, three, one, two, three, going forward and back, one, two, three and one, two, three. The rhythm is what called is a syncopated rhythm, which means you have a shorter step in between the two longer steps on either side so it is one, two, three, one, two, three once again one, two, three one, two, three forward and back one, two, three and one, two, three. Once again that is the triple step, the fourth secret to ballroom dance.
