This is Emily Johnson on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will be talking about the second secret to ballroom dance called the side step, which is the side step. You start by taking one foot in either direction. You step to the side about shoulder width apart and then you bring the other foot together close and change weight. You repeat by stepping to this one side, bringing your feet together closing and change weight once again without stepping to the side, bringing your feet together closing and making sure to change weight. To go the opposite direction of course, you have to start on the opposite foot, starting with the right foot this time, your are taking your shoulder width step, bringing the other foot together closing and making sure to change weight so that you can go to that side again, bring the other foot together closing and changing weight. Once again that is taking a step to the side, bringing your feet together, closing them and changing weight. This is done in two different styles. You can do this in the ballroom style which is usually slightly a larger sidestep so I should take a larger sidestep in the ballroom style, you are going to push off of the foot that you are leaving and take a sidestep, bringing your feet together and changing weight, sidestep, bringing your feet together and changing weight, sidestep, bringing your feet together and changing weight. The opposite direction, do the exact same thing taking off a slightly larger sidestep, bring your feet together and change weight, slightly larger sidestep, feet together, change weight, taking a slightly larger sidestep, bring your feet together and changing weight. In the Latin dance style, you will be taking a slightly shorter step no more than shoulder width, starting with one straight leg, one bent leg pushing off, changing it up bring your feet together and changing weight. Once again, you pushing off, change your weight to this leg, bring your feet together and changing weight. Once again, step to the side, bring your feet together and changing weight. To go the opposite direction of course you want to start on the opposite foot, taking a slightly smaller sidestep, bringing your feet together and changing weight. Once gain a slightly smaller sidestep, bring your feet together making sure to change the weight and a side step, bringing your feet together and making sure to change your weight. That is your second secret to the ballroom dance, the side step.
