The Latin Dance Hold in Ballroom Dancing for Beginners
This is Emily Johnson on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will be talking about the Latin dance hold both the man’s and the lady’s part. The Latin dance hold will be used in your rumba, your cha-cha and your swing. For the lady’s part you will lift your elbows to chest level keeping your elbows level with each other as well. Your left hand will come and contact with the man’s right shoulder. Your right hand will come in contact with the man’s left hand. In the Latin dance hold your arms will be closer to each other. It is a more compact dance style and you will be more leaning into your partner as opposed to away from your partner. The focus in the Latin dance hold is on your partner as opposed to away from your partner. The man’s Latin dance hold is slightly opposite of the woman’s. You will lift your arms to chest level keeping your elbows level with each other. Your right hand will come in contact with the lady’s back and your left hand will come in contact with the lady’s right hand making sure to keep your elbows closer to each other more in front of your body and leaning your chest towards your partner as opposed to away from your partner and that is the Latin dance hold.
