The Basic Ballroom Dance Hold for Beginners
This is Emily Johnson on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will be talking about the ballroom dance hold. The ballroom dance hold will be used in your fox trot, your tango and your waltz. Starting with the lady’s position the lady raises her arms keeping elbows level and at chest level. The lady’s left hand will come in contact with the man’s right shoulder. The lady’s right hand will come and contact with the man’s left hand palm to palm making sure to keep your elbows level at all times and at chest level. The lady’s head will be looking out to your left away from your partner while leaning top half of your body slightly away from your partner. The men’s ballroom dance hold is slightly opposite of the lady’s. The man will be bringing his arms to chest level, making sure that his left hand is no higher than the lady’s nose. His right hand will come around and come in contact with her back and his left hand will come and contact with her palm, making sure to keep pressure all the time. Once again keep elbows level with chest and hand no higher than your partner’s nose. The man will be looking slightly to his left so that he can see the majority of the dance floor and the man and the woman will not be facing each other. They will be looking opposite direction for the ballroom dance hold. That is the lady’s and man’s ballroom dance hold.
