How to Calculate Cubic Yards

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip we'll be calculating cubic yards. For our next project we're going to be adding in addition to the drive way we're going to make it three stalls instead of two stalls wide. To calculate concrete for our new driveway we need to come up with a couple of different measurements. First we have the width of existing driveway each section is 8 feet we're going to add an additional 8 foot section. The length of the run for our driveway is 44 feet and the new driveway is going to be 4" thick when poured. First we need to convert our 4" thick concrete into feet which is .33 then we're going to multiple all three of our values and that's going to give us a total of 116.16 cubic feet. The next thing we need to do is convert our cubic footage into cubic yards. We're going to divide our cubic footage by 27 and that's going to give us a total of 4.3 cubic yards worth of concrete that will take to pour this new driveway.
