How to Calculate Area of Walls

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip we'll be calculating the areas of the walls. In this particular project we're going to be painting this wall in accent color and we need to calculate the square footage of the wall so we know how much paint to order. First I'm going to do a rough drawing of my wall and I need to figure out what the height and the width is. The width of my wall is about 4 1/2 feet and the height was about 8 1/2 feet. When I plug in my numbers I get a total square footage of 38 1/4 square feet.
