How to Play Chicago Hi-Low Poker

The next game we'll talk about is another popular game amongst home games, it's called Chicago. Now Chicago is another variation of seven stud and it can be either played high Chicago or low Chicago. The way that Chicago is played is, in seven stud you remember each card, each player will end up with three cards face down. In high Chicago the person with the highest spade in those whole three cards will win half the pot. In low Chicago the person with the lowest spade in their three whole cards will win half the pot. They split the pot with the player who has the best five card hand. So, let's see how Chicago is dealt out. Each player is dealt two cards face down; the other players do not see these and then one card face up. This is followed by a betting round, with the action starting with the lowest card on the table, which is a two. Once the betting round is over the dealer deals another card face up to each player. Now the betting round starts with the best hand showing, this being the king. Once the betting round is over each player gets their third card face up and is followed by another betting round, starting with the player with the best hand showing. King would start the betting and the last card face up to each player will be dealt. Once this betting round is over, which started with the ace, the dealer will deal one card down to each player completing their seven card hand. And in high Chicago, like we mentioned, the player with the highest spade in the hole would win half the pot, which would be split with them and the player with the best five card hand. If we were playing low Chicago, the player with the lowest spade in their hand would win half the pot along with the player who had the best five card hand. And that is how Chicago is played.
