Necessary Tools for Cutting & Layering Curly Hair

On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Lizbeth Muller from Liz's Hair Design in Hollywood, Florida, and today we're going to show you how to cut curly hair. I'm going to tell you that I use a small scissor like this. It's like a 5 1/2. That's my preference. You can use a little bit larger scissor, depending on your hand. My hand is rather small. I will not be using thinning sheers, which are there, on here because her hair is finer. I don't want a lot of volume in there. If she had a massive amount of hair and it was curly, I would also use the thinning sheers. I just want to let you know that there's other tools out there. Your preference, of course. We will be using some clips to hold the hair and a comb like this. I won't use a rat tail comb. I'll just use a nice comb like this. Flat and not too wide tooth. Just medium. I'm also going to detangle the hair before I start with a comb like this. The sides here roll so that way the hair doesn't get matted in there and I can entangle it very easily.
