Applying Embossing Powder for a Valentine's Day Card

Alright, so we've already cut all of our 12x12 paper down into these cute little 3x3 cards, and they're scored and ready to go. The first card that we're going to make is this cute little mouse and it says happy heart day and he's holding a heart. We're going to emboss him with white embossing powder. In order to do that, what we need for supplies is of course, our stamp. We need versa mark ink and we need some white embossing powder. I'm just going to go ahead and get these things ready. Before I do that, I want to wipe the front of my card. What this does is it's like one of those little rosin bags like the pitchers use. It keeps only the white embossing powder sticking to where your ink has gone, so it keeps your area clean and only your embossing powder going where you want it. With the versa mark ink, I'm going to go ahead and stamp the happy heart day. You can't really see this. Versa mark ink is like a watermark like you see on the one dollar bills and stuff. It comes up as the same color as the cardstock, but as soon as I dip it in the white embossing powder, you'll see. Dip it in, tap off the excess. You have a little guy and he's got his white embossing powder on it, but he's not quite done yet. What we need to do now is heat it. This is where mom and dad come in. If you're working with your kids, you want to take your heat gun, hold it anywhere from 2-6 inches away, and go ahead and heat it. What you'll see as you're embossing comes alive, it's going to pop and it's going to become clear. That's when you know that it's done heating and you're ready to stop.
