How to Play Drums: Beat 34

JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So we're at 70 beats per minute. I'm going to throw the hi-hat in there. This is two eighth notes on beat one, upbeat of two, upbeat of three. All right? You can see where those eighth notes are lining up, just like usual. You have that two-&, &. Upbeat of three, right? That upbeat of three into four on the backbeat of the snare drum, &-four. Let's play it together. We're at 70 bpm. I'll count you off. One, two, ready, play. Okay? So there you have those two eighth notes on one, and then an eighth note on the upbeat of two and the upbeat of three.
