How to Decorate Rain Sticks With Fabric

Hi, this is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village. There many different ways to decorate a rain stick and to get them to have some texture. One way that you can do that is to use a piece of fabric. I chose blue because I'm thinking rain and rain is blue but any fabric will do. If you're just doing it for fun and really have nothing to do with rain. You can go wild and bright. Again, you want to do the same thing with the fabric that you do with paper or felt. And that's to wrap your fabric around your rain stick. Just past were you want it to overlap. Fold it and cut it and glue it on your rain stick. Once you have your fabric glued on to your rain stick perhaps you might use tacky glue or fabric glue, or even good old Elmer's will do. Once you've glued that on the rain stick. You might want to do some decorating on that fabric. Then you have a couple of options for doing that. One thing that you might want to do once this is on your rain stick is to use maybe a natural rope, such as jute. For the sake of time, I'm going to go ahead and rubber band it on. Another thing that you can do when your putting your fabric on your rain stick and you have your glue on it. Instead of gluing it down smoothly is to fold it and crinkle it a little bit and that will give it more texture. Especially if you have something underneath like your toothpicks that stick out a little bit. But once you have your fabric glued on to your rain stick you might want to take some fabric paint and a sponge and perhaps sponge on some different designs. Just with a sponge. Just to give it some design and interest. Or you might want to wrap it at the end with a little piece of jute to give it some character as well. So you can just use your imagination. Go crazy and have fun decorating your rain stick with fabric, maybe some paints and a little a bit of jute.
