Hi this is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts, on behalf of Expert Village. Another really fun way to decorate your rain stick is to use paint and felt and cut out the felt. The first thing you want to do is paint your rain stick, I am not going to do the whole thing I am just going to do this for demonstration purposes. You can paint your rain stick all one color, or you can paint it a multiple of colors, you can following the spiral as they go around, paint it stripes at they go around, you want to cover entire rain stick with paint. Use what ever color you choose. But, once you have done that you are going to put the felt around your rain stick. Probably should see how much felt you need once you rain stick is dry or before you paint the rain stick, so you wrap the felt in the rain stick. Again, you are going to have it come just past so it over laps a bit, and your going to cut your felt to fit. Hopefully you have better scissors then I do. These are a little bit unhappy with me, because I used them to cut chicken wire. It worked! But here is the fun part of this. You're going to take your piece of felt and you're going to fold it. And you're going to make some cutouts in the felt. Perhaps you're going to make a diamond design; perhaps you will make a half moon design. What ever you feel like making. So you would continue this design all the way down this fold. Then you will make another fold, and perhaps you will make a different design in between your designs on your first fold. You want to continue that design all the way down this fold. Then make another fold, and make a different design here or the same design, that pretty much depends on you. Once you're finished cutting your felt and you have all the designs that you feel you would like, and your paint is dry, you're going to glue it onto your rain stick. So, you're going to take your craft glue and cover the rain stick with your craft glue and then, you're going to put your felt on your rain stick. Not only when it is finished that you have a rain stick that has and interesting texture, but you also have your colors of paints showing through. And that's how you use some felt and paint to decorate your rain stick.
