Taking Initiative in Sabre Fencing

I'm Sharol Pestotnik with Colorado Fencing Academy. I'm Nickolay Logatchav, coach of Colorado Fencing Academy. On behalf of Expert Village we're here to discuss the rules of Sabre Fencing. Sabre Fencing is a, is a right-of-way weapon. The basic concept is initiative. To gain initiative, you need to be in attack. If you finish your attack, you have initiative and you get the point. If you come forward and your attack is either blocked, or you miss your attack, you must back up and block to gain the initiative back again. It's very important, that once you have initiative, you finish your attack to gain the point.
