The Ballet Ice Skating Jump

Hi! I'm Simone Fisher and I'm here at Clearwater Ice Arena in sunny Clearwater, Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, we're going to introduce to you some advanced figure skating jumps. What I'm going to show you next is a ballet jump. On the ballet jump, we usually go into the jump with a right inside turn. We stick our left toe pick in the ice and we spring off that leg. Then we extend our free leg into the air. Basically, it's important that we keep our back nice and straight, our arms out, and then we turn out of the jump. That's basically it. It's a lot easier to actually see it in action, so that's what I"m going to do next. I'm going to show you the ballet jump, so here I go. Like I said, it's always important to spring off the back jumping leg. You want to bend, bend, bend, and extend.
