How Bioidenticals Work in Menopause Relief

Hello, my name is Doctor Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to talk to you about ways to live with menopause. Now, in this clip, we're going to talk about a subject called bioidenticals. Now, you're going to ask yourself, "what is bioidenticals?" Well, let's look at the definition; basically, bioidentical is a way where you provide for the pharmacy a saliva sample. Then, what they're going to do with that saliva sample, they're going to do a custom mix of estrogen and progesterone made from natural sources like yam, soybeans, red clover for example. Then, they put that all together into a form; a mixture, a paste, or a cream, and then you can take that and that's what bioidenticals is. It's an alternative to the conventional treatment option like H.R.T. which is Hormone Replacement Treatment. Now, why bioidenticals can be another alternative source to treat menopause is because this is more of a natural way of dealing with menopausal symptoms. You also will have the benefits of bioidenticals in that you decrease the risk of stroke, you can decrease the risk of getting breast cancer, and also heart diseases because conventional H.R.T. also puts you at risk for getting certain cancers. So, this is also an alternative option that you could discuss with your physician; that you can think about in ways to dealing and treating of your menopausal symptoms.
