I’m Joe Marshall with Expertvillage.com and today we are going to learn how to win at blackjack. We’re going to get a little more in-depth with the count. You want to assign a value to these cards; these are good cards, so there’ll be a positive correlation to you. These are bad cards so they’ll be a negative correlation. And each card will count as a point. These are positive point and these are negative points. These you’ll have to train your brain to just cancel out and not even count them at all. The dealer will go ahead and start dealing the cards to the players, and as they come around, if you get a third base seat, you have an opportunity to do this fairly quickly. If you’re here you’ll have to do it after you place your bet. This card is good to you, so you’ll count that as positive 1. This you don’t need to count; this you don’t need to count. This is a bad card; you’ll count that as a negative 1. So your count now is at zero, because it went from positive one to negative one; these cancel each other out. Don’t count these at all, so its zero. We move on, and you don’t need to count this one. Counting this one in your head is a negative 1. This is a negative 2, negative 3. So your count right now is at a negative three, because there are more high value cards coming out of the deck, which is bad for you, than there are low value cards. This continues throughout the game. If the dealer has six decks, your running count is at negative 3, and say there are 3 decks left in the game, the way to get a true count on this is to divide your total of -3 by the remaining decks that are left to be played, which would be three divided by three, which is zero. So the count is basically saying that the game is completely even; nothing exciting is happening. Say for example if there was a positive three count with only one deck remaining, that’s great because if you divide one by three it’s three, so it’s a positive three count with one deck remaining and your true count is three. And if it’s a positive number of two or more, you want to start betting heavy because most of the cards are going to make you a winner. Your bank roll is very important. That’s why you want to play conservatively because there’s going to be streaks where you have negative 3 counts and your true counts are in the negative you want to be able to survive that. So when the ride comes back up to high counts and you’re making your winnings you can actually recuperate your losses and profit at the same time. The most important thing is your bank roll. Ideally it’s only supposed to double. Most people go in with 100 dollars at a fifteen dollar minimum table and they want to card count, it’s not enough of a bank roll to even consider a card count as a possibility. You could be wiped out before the count even has an opportunity for it to work. Another important thing you want to remember is you want to set a limit. If you come in with 5 grand, you want to leave when you make a profit of 5 grand. So you walk away with an extra 5 grand. You don’t want to play with their money. People are like “I’ll just play with their 5 grand; It’s not my money.” Treat it like it is your money and you’ll keep it. If you play with their money you’re more likely to play less conservative, more risky. You’ll often forget your count or be careless with your count and you’ll have to give it back to them and you’ll be left with what you started with in the beginning and nothing has really happened. So keep those things in mind, watch the counts and what the tape if you need to – they’re good counts. So back them up with your strong strategy, memorize that chart and you’ll have a winning edge over any casino in Las Vegas.
isn't -3 divided by 3 equal -1?
