How to Prepare the Onions & Garlic for Lasagna

On behalf of Expert Village I'm Laura Banford. I'm going to show you how to make super lasagna and causer salad. Now we're going to prep our onions and our garlic. These ingredients are both important to the flavor of the sauce and the flavor to the dish as a whole. We'll start with the onion I'm going to cut off both ends and what I want for this sauce is a fine dice. I'm only going to need a half of onion so I cut it in half like that and make thin slices nice and thin so it will be easy to dice them small. Then I'm just going to run my knife through kind of make uniform pieces (uniform dice) so they cook at a uniform rate. That's easily enough done now with our garlic and cut this in half, lay it flat on the cutting board I'm going to hit it with the back of the knife and the heel of my hand. That should make the come off very easily and it does and that makes it easy to mince. We're going to use garlic in our Caesar salad too that is definitely a garlic component to the Caesar salad. That's 2/3 of the vegetables we're going to need the other 1/3 is the carrots and when we come back we're going to prep our carrots see you then.
