Soft Standing Strategies for Blackjack

I am Joe Marshall with Expert Village.com and today we are going to learn how to win at Blackjack. We are going to go over the standing situations you want to be in when you have soft totals; this is the soft standing chart. The first base guy has a soft total of 14, it could also be a 4. Soft totals are nice because you can hit them a lot more without worrying about going over and busting. If he’s got a soft 14 against the dealer’s up card of 4, he is going to want to hit that soft total until he gets a total of 18 or higher and then stop. So in this instance 2 through 8 you want to keep hitting until you have 18. This card falls between that category. So he would hit again and in this case since it’s soft, he actually has a 21. If that card was an 8 for example it would not necessarily be a 22 because this does not have to count as 11, it could count as a 1 and in that case he wouldn’t bust and he would continue hitting until he reaches 18. The other thing I wanted to mention was the 9. If the dealer has a 9, 10 or an ace showing, you want to hit your soft total until it’s at a 19 and this chart is pretty easy to memorize, but it is just as important as memorizing as the hard totals are for when you count the cards.
