Hard Standing Strategies for Blackjack

I’m Joe Marshall with Expertvillage.com and today we are going to learn to win at blackjack. Just want to go over the standing hard totals like when should you stand and when should you hit. And we are going to explain that just by some charts and visual examples. On this example here the player had a hard thirteen and he was going to stand because the dealer’s up card was a four. And I will show you right here, if the dealer shows a 3, 4, 5, or 6, which in this case he is showing a 4, and you have a twelve or above already, you are going to want to stand. And that is why that player stands. Mathematically these charts have been determined to be sound, the safest bets you could make, the best odds of winning the game when you combine it with card counting. You want to take time probably to memorize these charts because if you don’t you will not be able to count the cards properly. And, without a good foundation and a strong strategy, the card counts are pretty much going to be useless. If the dealer has a 10 card showing, if this was a 10, you would want to stand on anything that is 16 or higher. 7, 8, 9, or Ace, you want to stand and stay on anything that is 17 or above. We discussed this one here with this example: if the dealer has a 2 card you want to stay on anything that is 13 or above. This is, again, just your standing options for hard totals such as a hard 13.
