KIVETT BEDNAR: To play lick number 31 of Wes Montgomery's solo of the "D-Natural Blues" off of "The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery," start by placing your middle finger on the 7th fret of the 3rd string and your lick should sound like this. What we're doing, we're only using the first two fingers, your forefinger and middle finger, and I'm going to start there on the 3rd fret--excuse me, 3rd string at the 7th fret, hammer on from the 6th to the 7th fret on the 2nd string, and then, jump up to the 7th fret of the top string, fall back to the 5th fret, and then, jump all the way down to the 7th fret of the 5th string--of the 4th string which is an A, and then jump up a minor 3rd to the dominant 7th of the chord which is a C on the 5th fret 3rd string. Now, I'm going to play the lick two times real slow and two times fast [PLAYS LICK].
