The Bases in the Game of Blackjack

I am Joe Marshall with Expert Village.com and today we are going to learn how to win at Blackjack. Okay we are going to discuss the player’s options that they have after the dealer has gone ahead and dealt out all the cards and everybody is ready to act. This is considered first base. He is the first guy that’s going to act. It goes in a clockwise fashion around the table. This is third base. They are important to know because if you are going to be doing card counting it can help you out depending on where you are sitting. It has nothing to do with like how many people are at your table. It is just the person that acts first and the person that acts last. The person that acts first is first base and the person that acts last is third base. So anyway the first guy would make a decision and he has four options he can stand, hit, split or double down and in this instance, he has got a 13 against the dealer’s up card of 4. He is just going to go ahead and stay because the dealer has a likely chance of busting because the dealer has to draw until he gets 17. So he would just stay which is usually just a wave over the cards. This guy here has a soft 18 or an 8 and you don’t want to double down if the dealer’s up card is anywhere from 2 through 6. In this case it is it is a 4 so they would want to double down by placing the same amount they wagered in the beginning and the dealer would give them another card, which gives them 21. So they wouldn’t want to take any more cards. They will win the game against the dealer as long as the dealer does not have a 21. If he does, it is called a stand off or a push and he does not lose any money, but he does not make any money either. This guy has got a 19 against the dealer’s 4 so he will just stand as well and this person has 8s. He is going to want to split these and reason being is you always want to split aces and 8s because 16 is a bad situation to be in. You’re likely to bust, but then again you are not likely to win even if you do not bust. So, he is going to want to split these cards and when you split you just going to place another bet for this card and if there are aces normally in casinos they will give you one extra card but since they are not they’ll let you keep playing this is an 18, which is a good hand so he does not want to play that anymore, we would move on to this one and dealer would give him a card. He would probably want to keep that as well just because the dealer is likely to bust so he would stand and these are basically options that would happen in any regular game. Again these four options are hit, stand, split or double down and we will get into those in detail now.
