KIVETT BEDNAR: To play lick number 18 in the "D-Natural Blues" by Wes Montgomery, place your pinkie on the 10th fret of the 4th string. Your lick should sound like this [PLAYS LICK]. So, what we're doing here, starting with the pinkie on the 10th fret with the 4th string, moving down a minor 3rd on the same string to the 7th fret, then down to the 10th fret, we're kinda moving back in the D minor here. So down to the 10th fret on the 5th string, and then down to the 10th fret on the bottom string, and then to the minor 3rd with your middle finger on the 8th fret of the 5th string, and then hammer on up to the major 3rd of D which is the 9th fret of the 5th string, and then just play the 5th string open. I'll play it once or twice really slowly, and then I'll play it up to speed [PLAYS LICK]. What we're doing is a turnaround lick here, dropping down to the 5 of the chord so that we can plunge back into the 1 [PLAYS LICK].
