The Round in the Game of Blackjack

I am Joe Marshall with Expert Village.com and today we are going to learn how to win at Blackjack. We’re just going to go over some of the basic things that can happen in a round of play of Blackjack. The dealer always starts out it, goes clockwise, he turns the card face up for everybody and deals himself one face down. He comes back around and deals them their last card and deals that face up and his card goes face up. This is known as the up card. This card is going to be the most important thing in learning blackjack as well as some other stuff, but the up card of the dealer will determine almost everything because you’re playing against him and not the other players. This is considered a hard hand. It is a 13 because the king is worth 10 and this card is worth 3 so it is a total of 13 it is hard because there is not an ace. In this example the ace can be worth 11 so we can have an 18 here, but it is considered a soft 18, because we can also make it an 8 if we want it to. It does not have to necessarily be 18 and the difference between soft hands and hard hands is going to determine how you’re going to play your strategies. This is the basic round, they would determine if they would hit based on the dealer’s up card and based on if they are close or far away from 21.
