KIVETT BEDNAR: To play the 12th lick in the first chorus of this Wes Montgomery solo, start by placing your forefinger on the 4th fret of the top string and your lick should sound like this. So, your first note is going to be this A flat, and then you're going to go down one string to E with your middle finger, and then down one string and up one fret to D flat with your ring finger, and then down to A with your pinkie. And while we're playing, we're actually outlining an A major 7 right here. But what happens when we finish the lick, we're going on to the 6th of that, so we realize we're actually playing an F sharp minor 7 with a 9 in it. So, the whole lick basically consists of sweeping down and ending on that F sharp. I'm going to play it one time or two times very slowly, and one time or two times up to speed [PLAYS LICKS].
