How to Read Accordion Sheet Music

JUDE PARRY: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Jude Parry. I'm with Gold Coast Theatre Company here in Miami Beach, and today we're going to be learning beginning accordion. Okay, what we're going to do now, we're going to learn how to read music. If you look at the music over here you'll see these little black notes. They are--the official name is tadpoles--of course it's not a name at all but that's what I like you to remember them as. So those little tadpoles climb up the scale and this is what those 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 if you remember those five fingers, that's what this sound like, 1-2-3-4-5, and those are C, D, E, F, G. C is a very common note so we often start on C. And so I'm going to use the bellows to open 1-2-3-4-5 and to close, and then return opening and closing. Sound simple stuff but that's exactly the sort of stuff you need to practice to get better.
