Hi! For expertvillage.com this is Mitch Kaplan. In this clip we will be talking about how to put a mouthpiece together and why you need a mouthpiece. The first fact is that you need a mouthpiece for it to make a sound, put together it sounds kind of like a duck, there we go. And so we have the reed, the reed is a very important part, it vibrates and creates the sound this is the reed. Then we have the ligature, the ligature is another important factor, it is made out of metal and it is made out of leather. Then we have the mouthpiece, the mouthpiece is, this one is made out of hard rubber, but you can get some that are made out of glass, and then it has cork, which fits into the barrel joint and this is how we put it together. We simply put it, we slip over the ligature over the table of the mouthpiece, and then we clip on the reed, and we just place the ligature carefully, and then tighten the ligature, and we place the reed in the center of the mouthpiece. And then now we are ready to play it again…
