Online Photography Course: Head Shots, Poses

Hello, I’m Chris Conklin on behalf of expertvillage.com. Now when you talk about head shots, they’re pretty much so, usually all are about the same, you are shooting from basically the neck to the top of the head. Now, the different poses, and the different angles and the looks on the individual’s faces is bringing out their personality, in the attitude that the person has, along with the rest of the poses that might appear on a comp-card, on a poster or anything else that they are trying to submit to give the idea of who they are and how they come across. Remember that a picture is worth a 1000 words; make that picture speak for itself and tell its story. Now arm movements and arm positions can definitely show attitude and personality. As an example, just a casual pose like this could mean a variety of different things: it could mean the person is not interested, it could mean that he is relaxed. Now to use arm poses, to come out and say, “I am doing this on purpose, I am interested, and I want you to recognize me,” one tip that you could do is have both the hands out like this. Now that looks like a purposeful, actual hand cross. Now if you are looking for more attitude, then just dip one of them down and tilt your head accordingly.
