For expertvillage.com this is Mitch Kaplan. In this clip we will be talking about the proper playing posture. Posture is very important. For posture⦠being the reason why we get the air flowing through your body. Once should sit straight up, and this way the air is more accessible to go through the throat, and give a larger volume of air that would flow through the body of the instrument. Now there is the hose analogy, which is when you take a garden hose and you squeeze it together, you cut off the water. I remember doing this when I was a kid ,and then squirting my sister by letting it go, watching the water just blast her in the face, she did not expect it, I liked that, anyways, well, it is the same thing with your air, because if you are constricting, you are all slouched over, then what happens is you are constricting that air from flowing through your body, and there you have it, that is the posture for today.
