For expertvillage.com this is Mitch Kaplan. In this clip I would like to share with you some different types of clarinets. We have, there is an A flat, an E flat, an A, and an E flat alto and a B flat contrabass. Today our guest is the B flat contrabass. This is a wonderful instrument, and I hope you enjoy this playing…these are the parts of the contrabass. The peg is adjusted so that it would fit the musicians, and he would not have to reach down to get it. The bell is what makes the sound louder. Then we have the body, and the keys much like the regular clarinet. Then we have the neck, which curves around kind of like the tenor saxophone, a little more curved than the saxophone and an angle just the right amount for the musician, then we have the mouthpiece, which is much larger than a regular clarinet mouthpiece, there is the difference.
That's not a Contabass, you idiot! It's a bass clarinet!!!!
