A Guide to Writing Dialogues for Plays

STEVE CAVERNO: Steve Caverno, on behalf of Expert Village, here to talk to you today about dialogue. So in this section, we've gone over dialogue. We've gone over how dialogue is conveyed, different ways to reveal character through dialogue. We've gone over modifications in dialogue, how to use an accent in dialogue, how to--audition sides, how to select the auditions from a play. We've gone over what dialogue says about a character, and we've gone over how dialogue and good dialogue can help market your script to actors and professionals. Dialogue is the primary way that you develop--that you deliver information to the audience through a play. And we've also gone over how to make your dialogue easy to say to an actor some of the tips that you can do to make your dialogue pop and make it more easy to memorize. And dialogue is not really real speech. We've also gone over how you can learn dialogue, how you can listen to other people in the world, how can you get inside to how different people behave and how people say different things to different people, depending on the situation and the relationship to those people. And these are some of the ways the dialogue functions in plays.
