CINDY MASTRY: In this clip, Faith is going to help me demonstrate how you can use blocks and take a particular pose into a more advance posture that you may not be able to do without the blocks. So we're going to ask Faith to come into standing split again and we're going to take this into the split bow, a little bit more advance. She's going to inhale and lengthen up. As she exhales, she lifts and folds forward, placing her hands onto the blocks which helps alleviate if you have tight hamstrings or a tight low back. She's going to extend her leg up to the sky coming into her standing split. To take this further, she's going to bend her knee. Good. So that she gets a good stretch through the quadricep. She's going to take her opposite hand back and reach back and grab onto her foot. Sometimes it takes a little bit to find it. Good. So she grabs on, yeah. And then she lengthens and tries to press her knee right up to the sky, maybe coming through a little arch through the spine to find that balance. Now, she may not be able to reach or do this pose without the blocks, but the blocks just elevates the floor and makes this easier so she can come into this pose. She doesn't have to worry as much about the balance or whether she can get her hands to the floor, and she can spend her time thinking and coming into the pose a little more deeper, working on sending the energy where it belongs and finding the stillness that she needs to find to bring meditation into this pose.
