Obtain the Right Equipment for Circuit Bending

AMANDA CLAIRE: Okay, so there's several things you need kind of to have handy if you're going to be circuit bending. Just briefly, I'll just kind of run off the list; we'll go through things one by one. You definitely need a soldering iron and a stand for the soldering iron. You need screwdrivers, we'll talk about the kinds of screwdrivers that are useful for circuit bending. You're going to need wire, stranded wire, we'll talk about wire a little bit. You're going to need wire cutters and wire strippers. It's helpful to have maybe some electrical tape on hand; masking tape is also very useful. I like having a drill on hand with different drill bits so that you can make holes in the case of the item that you're circuit bending when you need to install switches or potentiometers, little knobs, and dials. Obviously, you need solder for the soldering iron, we'll talk about a little bit. Little supply of batteries, generally AA batteries are what you're going to need but sometimes some other sizes. So that's kind of a general list of what you need and we'll start talking about these things one by one. Obviously, once you start finding the bends that you want to install permanently, you're going to need components like switches. I've got a bunch of switches here and we'll talk about switches and the different kinds. I've got push buttons, on-off type push buttons which is so. Oh, another important thing is alligator clips and that'll be the last thing I mention into this clip before we start going through things one by one, but alligator clips are just kind of like a wire which with like a little clip on each hand and you can use them for kind of exploring the circuit board.
