AMANDA CLAIRE: All right. So I just want to reemphasize one point which is that there's really very little risk or danger in circuit bending other than burning yourself with a soldering iron. So that's as long as you stick to low voltage, basically anything that runs off a battery, you'll be doing fine. And so for this reason, circuit bending is great for kids. I mean, yes, there are circuit benders that are young and old and male and female and teenagers, adults, artists, musicians, whatever. But kids can do it too as long as they either have adult supervision when they learn how to use the soldering iron or they have someone kinda watching over their shoulder. As long as you don't use anything that plugs into the wall, if it runs off batteries, it's really safe and so kind of anyone can do it. In fact, I've taught several workshops in circuit bending. One was at the Maker Faire in Austin, Texas this past summer. And I had this one little girl, she was like 7 years old and she came in and she was fascinated by what I was doing and she picked kind of a toy that I had a table for like unmodified toys and she picked one and she said, "I want to circuit bend this," and so we sat down and she took it apart with a screwdriver and I helped her do the soldering and stuff and she really understood conceptually what she was doing and loved it and was really one of maybe only about 15 people that weekend who walked away with a complete project, and she was 7 years old. So anyone can do it. Like I said, you don't need to know a lot about electronics so don't be discouraged.
