Safety Rules for a Power Planer

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip I will be talking about some safety rules. You want to make sure you never leave any rags, cords or strings or cloth in the work area. The planer could pick this up and damage the planer or cause injury. Before starting a planing process, you want to inspect your material for any type of foreign objects that includes nails, even dirt and other debris that might be on your piece of stock. Next you want to make sure that you are only using sharp blades in your planer. If you have a dull blade, this could cause the planer to veer off make a bad cut an cause somebody to get injured. Additionally the area on the bottom of your planer with the blade does rotate and you want to keep fingers away from that so that you don't get cut. And lastly you always want to make sure that you are holding the tool firmly with both hands.
