Knowing Table Tennis Etiquette

Hi, this is Jared on behalf of Expert Village. And, in this section, I want to talk to you about table tennis etiquette. Table tennis is actually considered a gentleman's sport. Its a sport of honor and if played right it can be a very, very fun sport. So, I want to go over a couple of rules of thumb. First, is that when the ball is hit, hits the net and goes over. And, you win the point by hitting the net. That is something you usually apologize for. So you would say ?I?m sorry". Or, in the same sense, if the ball is coming, hits the edge of the table and your opponent isn't able to return it. In that situation, you would also want to apologize. Now, in some situations people usually tend to show good choice for that. You actually want to apologize because its showing you won the point by a fluke, and not by skill. So, its a good idea to apologize for that. Also, as your rule of thumb. When you see your opponent and your about to play, you go up and shake hands before the match. Introduce yourself, and tell each other your name. Also, after the match is over, regardless of who wins? You go and shake their hand and thank them for the match. Those are a couple rules of thumb. You also don't want to talk during the point or while your opponent is getting ready to serve. This can distract them in many, many ways. So, try your hardest to honor your opponent and have good sportsman like conduct while your playing.
