Ball Placement Strategies in Table Tennis

Alright this is Jared on behalf of Expert Village, and I want to give you a helpful tip that's called ball placement. If you're playing this game, you will quickly learn that it's a crucial part of the game. Now there's three main places that you can hit the ball. Two are good and one is bad. The first place you can hit the ball is away from the opponent. So if the opponent is standing here, the place you would want to hit the ball is over here, to the left. So that they would have to reach. It would put your opponent our of position for a good comfortable hit. So again, the first ball placement place you can put the ball, is away from from your opponent. The second good place you can place the ball, and this is probably the best, is at their elbow. So if you aim at their elbow, the ball's coming in like this, and their natural tendency is to choose between forehand and backhand. If you can place it at their elbow, many times players will get caught in between, confused, and make a bad decision of popping the ball up, which is good for a nice smash. So the second place you can do is at their elbow. This is ideal. The third place, and you don't want to do this, is hit it what we call in their pocket. For their backhand, it would be putting it right here, so they're ready for that hit, but for their forehand pocket, it would be right here. They have a nice comfortable hit. The only time you want to hit it at their backhand pocket is on the smash. A lot of times, whenever I have a high ball, I'll hit it at them, and the ball will come fast right at them and hit them in the chest. For slow balls, you want to make sure you aim at their elbow or far away from their body.
