How to Use Sidespin in Table Tennis

Hi, this is Jared on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip I want to talk to you about side spin. Side spin is something that will be used primarily in serves rather than in the middle of a point. In a point when you are playing it can be difficult to hit the ball with side spin either direction. When you begin a point with side spin it is much easier. With side spin you are either wanting your opponent to hit it off the edge or to set up for where you want them to hit the ball. For example, If I put side spin it's going to make them hit the ball this direction it's because I want them to hit to my forehand so I can open up with an attack. If my backhand is better, then I am going to put side spin this direction so that they will hit this way. A serve that has side spin with this direction looks something like this. A serve that has side spin for this direction looks something like this. Now let's see how that spin reacts off the opponents paddle.
