How to Do a Flap in Tap Dancing

Hi, this is Sarah McLellan in New York City here at June Parody's Dance Studio. On behalf of Expert Village I'm going to teach you today some basic and beginning tap moves. So come on in. One of the most basic steps and I think that one of the first steps that you learn in tap dancing. I knew it as a forward flap. When I came to the states I then became that you all call it a flap. So we are going to talk about that today and I'm going to show you how to do it. Basic is the flap. So the flap is actually using the top of your foot to make a sound going to forward and then you heel it down. That is a flap you want to make 2 sounds. Forward and back like that. Do it on the other leg tilt and stepping. That is a flap. You can also change the weight and step onto it flap. I would show you one more time. Flap, try it on the other leg ready and flap.
