How to Do Moving Flaps in Tap Dancing

Hi, this is Sarah McLellan in New York City we at June Parody's Dance Studio. On behalf of Expert Village I'm going to teach you today some basic and beginning tap moves. Come on in! So now we are going to do some across the floor work. This builds up your confidence kind of moving while you are tapping doing the steps that you know. We are going to start with some flaps across the floor. So we are going to start with doing your flap which is your forward hit and your step and we are going to travel across the room. Flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, trying to get everything even as we go across the room. So keep that sound even flap, flap, and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 and 8. Now that we have done it across the room what I want to try to do is get to your flaps a little bit faster. So instead of flap we are going to go flap, flap, flap, flap, flap.
