Cooking Equipment Needed for Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes

Hi! I'm Georgette Rampone with Expert Village. Today we're baking pumpkin spice cupcakes with vanilla bean cream cheese icing. Some of the equipment we'll be using today are a heavy duty mixer. If you're purchasing a mixer, I would really suggest that you spend the extra dollars to buy a very heavy duty mixer that's really made to mix batters and icings. Some of the other mixers burn out. I can't tell you how many of them I have gone through myself before I started buying heavy duty ones. It really was worth my investment. We'll also be using various mixing bowls, measuring cups, spatulas, a whisk. This is one of my favorite cooking pieces of equipment. I got this at one of the local dollar stores and I can't live without it. I use it for mixing flours and dry ingredients together before I sift them. It's a great trick and a great tool. I have a nice strainer that I'm going to be sifting flour through. Measuring cups and silicon spatulas. These are fairly new on the market place. They replace the old rubber spatulas and they're so much better. They don't pick up odors. They don't pick up color, so if you're stirring something like blueberries, coffee, or a tomato sauce, you won't have a dirty looking spatula afterwards, and they're heat resistant. For all those reasons, I would suggest investing in a good silicon spatula. Measuring spoons and measuring cups.
