Measure Under Frame for Car Alignment

DOUG JENKINS: Hi, I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods, and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. So next, Ralph maneuvers under the car there and he's going to investigate the underside of the frame a little bit, and he's going to choose a number of different places under the frame that are good, easy places to measure all around. So we've ascertained that the left side of the vehicle is higher than the right, a little bit more in the front than the rear. And now he's going to measure the frame to the steel frame rack. The frame rack was very carefully installed, we made sure everything was perfectly level, so it's kinda of a good basis for taking all the measurements. And he'll pick a number of places on the frame to see if the reason the car is leaning is because the, you know, if the frame is level and square and plum, and the body's crooked, then that means the body was mounted incorrectly to the frame. It could also be--if the frame is not level and plum, it could be because of a spring issue. So the first place he's choosing to measure to is the right front spring perch. So Ralph is crawling from one end of the car to the other, picking a bunch of important points that he thinks would be good measurement references, so we can analyze the frame. When he crawls out from there, we'll go over all the numbers with him and see where we're at.
