Maintaining a Bench Grinder

Hi, my name is Danny and I am from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, I am going to show you how to use and maintain a bench grinder. I am going to talk about general maintenance. Usually when you are done using these if they are not stationary because usually they are stationary but if they are not, you just want to spray them off with the air and just wrap up the chord and put them away. But if they are stationary and you are done using them, just spray them off with a air hose or something and keep them clean. Now when the wheels go down, usually there is a tag or something. You don't want to go any further than that. You want to change out the wheel. The wire wheel when it starts going down about an 1 to 1 1/2 depending on how large the wheel is but usually you will change it when you start realizing you can't go any further and you start hitting the machine. The buffer wheel also when it starts getting down to almost hitting the metal you just want to change them out. So it depends on what type of material you are using especially on the buffer wheel. You might need the big wheel to move around and it actually controls what you are doing. So it is not really hard to change out, it's just the wrench and take off this nut. Pull the piece off, put the new piece on and make sure that it is tight and that is the general maintenance.
