How to Spin Off Lug Nuts & Remove Tires

Hi, my name is Nate McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips we are going to talk about the proper way to inspect and adjust your drum style rear brakes. In this clip we are going to talk about the proper way to spin off our lug nuts, remove our rear tire, we've go the 4-way right here, put it on the lug nut and spin it off. If you are like me and most of you do it yourselfer's at home, don't have an air compressor or an impact gun. The 4-way is what you are going to want to use. You get a mechanical advantage out of it just by the weight. You see you can spin it and get a little bit more per turn instead of just using an iron and having to ratchet it out every time. A lot of it does depending on the condition of your wheel studs. If it is a real old vehicle, you might have to work them all off. Once you have all of your lug nuts off, it is a good idea to put them in your pocket or on a magnetic tray. Got the lug nuts off, you are going to have to most of the time pop your tire off and hold on to it with this hand and apply some force with my other hand. Just due to corrosion, the wheel may be stuck to the drum assembly. Slip our tire off and roll it out of the way.
