AMANDA CLAIRE: Great, so remember, good soldering technique is we're going to keep our iron--tip of the iron clean so we're going to kind of go on the sponge here and we're going to bring it down and we're going to bring it down and we're gonna--remember, we're going to heat up the actual component itself. So in this case, it's the switch terminal I'm heating up, not the wire. And just kind of wait a few seconds and I'm going to touch the solder to the area and lo and behold, you might not be able to see this but the solder will begin to flow and will kind of flow all over that terminal and the wire that's hooked through that little hole. Remember, one thing about soldering is hot solder doesn't stick to cold metal. So that's why you really need to heat the metal up while you're soldering if you're going to get that solder to kind of flow all over it nice and clean and make a good joint.
