Learn Where to Place the Wire for Circuit Bending

AMANDA CLAIRE: All right, so now we're going to solder our wires to the switch. Most components, whether it's a switch or a jack or a pot, if you look at the little terminals that come from it, they usually have holes in them and you can kind of see these holes maybe, I'm actually looking at the camera right through these little holes. And what the purpose of these holes is so that you can take the tinned sort of end of a wire and actually hook it into that hole and then kind of pinch that hook a little bit close, and so you have a little bit extra strength to that joint that you're then going to make even stronger by putting hot solder there, okay? So we're going to do is here's our tinned wire, we've cut it to length, here's our switch inside the project, kind of sticking in from the other side. We want to go to the central terminal with this wire 'cause remember, this center one's going to go to the common connecting point that when our switch is on the off position, it won't do anything but when it's in one of the other two positions in that double throw, it'll connect it to one--that point that this wire is connected to at the middle terminal will connect it to the other two points we've found in the circuit board. So let's just--so we kind of have that little--I made a little hook shape, I'm going to kinda thread that through the hole, there it is. I'm gonna--my finger is not big enough to get in there so I'm just kind of use the tip of my little screwdriver to kind of make that a tiger joint.
