Learn About the Necessary Parts & Procedures for Circuit Bending

AMANDA CLAIRE: So, when you're circuit bending, you want to keep the toy alive while you're circuit bending. And what that means is you want to make sure of that you don't break the power supply. You want to make sure the toy is turned on, right? Like right now I don't even know if it's turned on. I can push a button. Oh, it's not turned on. Look at that. So, very gently I'm going to reach underneath and turn it on. Okay. So now it's on, I'm going to turn it off now real quick just so I can talk over it. Bye-bye. Okay. So, you want it to be on, you want to make sure that the power supply is not broken. Obviously there needs to be batteries in there. You want to be careful with the speaker, I mean here's a speaker, this is connected to the circuit board. Sometimes these connections can be badly done, they might be fragile. Maybe they won't be. In this case it looks like they put some hot glue over it, so I don't think that that's going to be breaking anytime soon. But you just want to make sure that all the vital signs of your toy are there at all times; power, speaker connected, turned on, because while you're messing with the circuit board, you're going to want to be pushing buttons on the toy at the same time that you're kinda playing around with the circuit, and so you really can't do that if there's something wrong with the power supply or it's not turned or your speaker is disconnected. So, those are kind the three things that kind of need to be sort of going on. You kind of make sure that it's alive while you're messing around with it.
