Hi my name is Carey Kepler; I’m a functional training coach. I coach triathletes and do triathlons myself. If you would like to improve your sports performance, improve the quality of your life or have questions about the following exercise please contact me at http://www.boundless-energy.com. This exercise is a running focus exercise. This exercise is also going to help strengthen your back leg. This exercise is a single leg squat. You want to perform it on an elevated surface; make sure that it is stable. You want to stand single leg with the opposite leg being able to dangle off of the bench as you squat down. You’re looking for a deep squat so that the thigh is parallel with the bench, as you come down and then stand back up. Go ahead and bring those arms forward to help with balance, you want to go for about ten to twenty repetitions. And of course always switching legs so that you work both sides equally. This is going to develop quad strength both for the bike and the running.
